Topamax® Increases Risk of Cleft Palate Birth Defects
The FDA recently announced that new research has linked Topamax® (topiramate) to an increased risk of oral birth defects that include cleft palate. Topamax® (topiramate) is an anticonvulsant medication FDA-approved for use alone or with other medications to treat patients with epilepsy who have certain types of seizures. Use of Topamax® or its generic during pregnancy may cause debilitating oral malformations. The lawyers at Perdue Kidd & Vickery are reviewing potential claims for children who may be entitled to compensation through a Topamax cleft palate lawsuit.
